In the heart of South Gloucestershire, a transformative initiative is taking root – a Nature, Health, and Wellbeing Network, designed to weave together the fabric of local green spaces to foster community health and connectivity. Whilst developing the same concepts in South Wales as well.
This blog post marks the beginning of a series that will delve into the various facets of this pioneering project and highlight the collaborative efforts that make it flourish.
Funding for the growth of the Nature Health and Wellbeing Network:
Central to the success of this venture is the support from Natracare, a company committed to environmental sustainability through the 1% for the Planet initiative and compostable product development. Their generous funding injection is the catalyst propelling this project towards its full potential. With Natracare's backing, the Nature, Health, and Wellbeing Network is not merely a vision but a tangible reality, bringing positive change to the South Gloucestershire community.
Connecting with Local Partners:
One of the key partnerships cultivated through this initiative is with the Frome Valley Growing Project. The location is a wonderful space that we are supporting and at the same time, our delivery team can deliver some brilliant Health and Wellbeing support for local community members.
Supporting Local Communities:
Additionally, surplus fruits and vegetables harvested from the Frome Valley Growing Project and community orchards that One Planet Matters and local community members support will be channeled to support We are BS15 This vital aspect of the project ensure that the benefits of the Nature, Health, and Wellbeing programme extend beyond the immediate participants, reaching families facing food insecurity in the South Gloucestershire area.
Building Medical Partnerships:
A key element of developing our Network is the interactions we will have with local PCN's, who can refer clients toward one of our well-being activities.
Community Anchor Support:
Southern Brooks, a community anchor charity, has also joined forces in this collaborative effort. Dedicated to building connections and providing support to help people thrive and improve their well-being in South Gloucestershire, Southern Brooks brings a wealth of community-building experience to the table. Their involvement strengthens the social fabric of the Nature, Health, and Wellbeing network, fostering an environment where individuals and communities can truly flourish.
The Circle of Support:
The interconnectedness of the businesses involved in this initiative, including Natracare, Frome Valley Growing Project, Hanham Health, and Southern Brooks, creates a comprehensive circle of support that amplifies the impact on the community. Natracare's commitment to sustainability, Frome Valley Growing Project's dedication to local agriculture, Hanham Health's integration of green prescribing, and Southern Brooks' community anchor role together form a powerful alliance that transcends individual endeavors, illustrating how collaboration can yield meaningful change.
